About

Sotero A. Peralta, senior partner of Horwath HTL has been in the consulting practice in the Dominican Republic for more than thirty years working with the planning, development and management of a wide variety of tourism and real estate projects. Parts of his responsibilities include the programming and supervision of consulting engagements in the Dominican Republic and throughout Central America and the Caribbean. Among his experiences, Mr. Peralta has performed extensive research in regional project development, planning, management strengthening, marketing research, and financial engineering, convention centers, as well as other specialized programs in hotels, tourism, and related industries.

Mr. Peralta’s areas of specialization include the following:

  • Strategy and conceptual framework planning for large and small tourism development projects.
  • Program analysis and evaluation, including new development and project concept studies, market and financial analysis, operational reviews for owners, selection of hotel operators and management contract negotiations for hotel operations and property valuations.

Mr. Peralta has participated in the planning and execution of the Quality Control Program of the Hotels, Tourism and Leisure Group (HTL) of Crowe Horwath International, and was a member of the Strategic Task Force for Crowe. He also has been responsible for the coordination and publication of the “Worldwide Hotel Industry Study”, which has been an official publication of the International Hotel & Restaurant Association (IHRA). He is also responsible for the coordination and publication of the "Dominican Hotel Industry", which was published for 14 consecutive years. Mr. Peralta has been active member in the organization of the Dominican Hotel Association.

Mr. Peralta is an active member of the HTL Committee of Crowe Horwath International and was a member of its Executive Council, and past president of its Latin American Regional Organization (ORLA), former president of the Dominican Republic Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and a former member of the International Society of Hospitality Consultants (ISHC). He was also President of the Board of Directors of the Conciliation and Arbitrage Council of the Chamber of Commerce of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Mr. Peralta has developed extensive knowledge and experience in the management area of international multilateral organizations and governmental entities, working on projects related to the field of institutional assessment, management strengthening, budgeting, supervision and training, and in the establishment of managerial and organizational patterns.

Mr. Peralta has been frequently invited as a speaker or facilitator for seminars and conferences worldwide. Mr. Peralta graduated with a bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration (Accounting) from the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD). He went on to study the stock market at the Catholic University Pontificia Madre y Maestra (PUCMM), majoring in finance.
